Hi, I’m Lisbeth Petrozza — but most people call me Lissy.
I founded Speech, Language, and Play with Lissy to provide thoughtful, individualized speech-language services that truly center children and their families. By offering in-home and community-based therapy, my goal is to meet families where they are and support meaningful, lasting progress through connection, collaboration, and play.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Communication Science and Disorders with a minor in Linguistics from the University of Pittsburgh in 2013 and returned to Pitt to complete my Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology in 2017. I hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and am licensed to practice in both Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.
I began my career as a school-based speech-language pathologist, supporting students with a wide range of communication needs, including articulation, receptive and expressive language, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), fluency, and social communication. After relocating to Massachusetts, I transitioned into private practice, where I specialized in using AAC to support individuals with complex developmental profiles, including Autism Spectrum Disorder and Down syndrome.
I returned to a school-based setting at a specialized school for children with autism, where I have the privilege of working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. This experience deepened my understanding of sensory processing and the importance of predictable, supportive routines in helping children feel safe, regulated, and ready to learn.
Across every setting, one thing has remained clear: children learn best when they are engaged, supported, and understood. Following a child’s interests and leading with play became central to my work and ultimately guided me toward the P.L.A.Y. (Play and Language for Autistic Youngsters) Project® autism intervention program. In November 2025, I completed the required training and coursework to become an official P.L.A.Y. Project Consultant.
I believe communication grows through joyful connection, trust, and play. It would be an honor to support your child and partner with your family as we build meaningful communication skills together.
